Kim Lewis, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Professor at Northeastern University, as well as Director of the Antimicrobial Discovery Center in the University’s College of Science.  His areas of expertise include antimicrobial drug tolerance, drug discovery, and microbial biotechnology.

Professor Lewis and his team have received worldwide attention recently for their discovery of the antibiotic, teixobactin, which kills bacteria without any detectable resistance.  Now Dr. Lewis is targeting the bacteria that cause Lyme, honing a pulse-dosing antibiotic strategy to kill the persistent cells that trigger the chronic form of the disease.
